How Personality Disorders Affect the Homeless Essay

Those who are homeless, living in poverty with no work, food, or shelter, have to go through many obstacles in their lifestyle. They are more susceptible to suffer from many mental disorders, from Bipolar to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, which are often due to the personal experiences of not only their childhood, but their lifestyle of homelessness. While many choose to live in their own distinctive ways, others are bound to it. Being isolated, with no real love and care from other people, most importantly, your family can cause the reasoning behind the mental disorders people suffer. A beginning step towards suffering the conditions and symptoms of these disorders is considered having Borderline Personality Disorder. It happens to be†¦show more content†¦These poor and cruel memories are left embedded in the minds of these once innocent people. The lifestyle their parents or guardians bring them up as are another main cause of these disorders. They begin to waste their tim e and money on insufficient necessities such as drugs and alcohol; they believe that it is their way of â€Å"relaxation†, providing comfort in their times of distress. The environment, both â€Å"social and home† is a main contribution â€Å"to the development of antisocial behavior† (Black). There are instances as to why many homeless people will be crude and dry with a stranger of higher success; the chances are that their pastime was not a pleasant one. So, who are we to judge? We have all had rough pasts at some point in time, and just because they have and chose a different route, do not mean we are allowed the opportunity to gain while others lose consistently. Not only is the environment a major factor to these feelings of being lonely, secluded, and isolated, but also the treatment of their parents. A lot of this abuse of mentality comes from parents who are absent or separated. Not only will the children act up, but the parents too. Do we want to watch poor innocent children suffer through their parents’ actions? No, because they should know what is wrong and what is right. Although it may seem that easy, it is not.
